The prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases of aging is high and growing rapidly. The Weston Brain Institute is delighted to launch our Transformational Research 2016 Program to fund high-potential translational research projects with excellent preliminary data that will advance the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases of aging. This Program aims to support innovative ideas that can advance the development of scientific breakthroughs to accelerate the creation of safe, effective treatments for these diseases.
Goal: Provide funding for preclinical translational research that will accelerate the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases of aging.
Funding: A maximum of $1,500,000 over up to 3 years.
Eligibility: Researchers at or above the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent are eligible to apply as the Principal Applicant. Collaborators must be at the post-doctoral level or above.
Disease Scope: All the Institute’s neurodegenerative diseases of aging are covered by this program (see Funding Overview) with the exception of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Development Scope: Development of a therapeutic and/or a tool that helps to accelerate the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases of aging.

Letter of Intent Deadline: Thursday, January 21st 2016, 2:00 pm EST
An application for the Transformational Research Program requires a Letter of Intent, and after review applicants with high potential projects will be invited to submit a Proposal. Proposal instructions and feedback from our scientific review committee will be forwarded along with the invitation.
The Weston Brain Institute will be holding an online Program Information Session for this funding opportunity on Tuesday, November 17th at 1:00 pm EST. This session is intended to provide you with comprehensive information on the application process and to provide an opportunity for open questions.
