July 25, 2016

Congratulations to Dr. Peter St George-Hyslop, Director of the Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and Professor at the University of Toronto, who has been awarded the 2016 Weston Brain Institute Outstanding Achievement Award. Dr. St George-Hyslop contributed to the generation of several Alzheimer’s disease mouse models for drug screening tools. In addition, he showed that immunization with amyloid beta peptides reduces neuropathological and cognitive deficits in an Alzheimer’s mouse model, which is being replicated in humans in clinical trials for mild Alzheimer’s disease.
